Dr. B.R. Our History

Established in 1984, DBRAIT holds the distinction of being the oldest engineering college in Port Blair and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Originally known as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar & Second Government Polytechnic, it has evolved into a full-fledged institute offering degree and diploma programs.

Affiliated with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Institute of Higher Learning (NSCBIHL) and Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE), DBRAIT has consistently grown its academic offerings and outreach programs to serve the island communities.

Academic Programs

DBRAIT offers a diverse range of undergraduate and diploma courses tailored to the needs of the maritime and industrial sectors. Our programs emphasize practical training and industry collaboration.

  • B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology): Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Civil Engineering (4 years).
  • Diploma in Engineering: After 10th and Lateral Entry options in branches like Electrical,Electronics & Communication, Mechanical,Civil,Computer Application and Information Technology (3 years).
  • Non-Formal Courses: Short-term skill development in welding, computer applications, and island-specific vocational training via extension centers.
