Admission Criteria
Andaman & Nicobar Administration Guidelines CATEGORY ELIGIBILITY SEATS (%) I Tribal 20% II Deputationist and Central Government employees with transfer liability to serve outside the Union Territory provided the candidate in this category have studied the last two years in the islands and passed the qualifying examination from a school in the islands. 10% III Settlers who were settled prior to 1942 and those who were settled under various rehabilitation schemes introduced after reoccupation of the islands. The seats in this category will be allocated as under: (a) Pre 1942 Settlers - 1/3rd (b) Other Settlers - 1/3rd (c) Seats to be allocated on the basis of combined merit of (a) and(b) above - 1/3rd 50% IV Other locals who do not fall under any of the above categories or Central Government employees having no transfer liability to serve outside the Union Territory, provided all have had 10 years education in the islands 20% V General Merit Quota open to all the residents of A&N islands irrespective of any classification. This will be subject to the condition that the candidates in this category have studied the last two years in the islands and passed the qualifying examination from a school inthe islands. Unfulfilled seats of categories I, II, III & IV above Note: A 10% seats for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates as per UGC OM No. 12-4/2019-U1, dated 17/01/2019 and AICTE letter no. AICTE/AB/CR/EWS/2019/2019, dated 08/05/2019 and 5% seats for Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) shall be reserved as supernumerary to the approved Intake. The details of EWS and TFW are mentioned in the following table:- Details of Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) & Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Scheme Under AICTE, New Delhi CRITERIA & SEATS ELIGIBILITY PROCEDURE TUITION FEE WAIVER (TFW) ⮚ Seats up to a maximum 5% of “Approved Intake” per Course shall be available for these admissions. ⮚ These seats shall be supernumerary in nature and shall be available to such Courses in an Institution where a minimum of 30% of “Approved Intake” in the respective Courses are filled up. ⮚ Sons and daughters of parents whose annual income is less than 6.00 Lakh from all sources shall only be eligible for seats under this scheme. ⮚ The Waiver is limited to the tuition fee as approved by the Government. All other fee except tuition fee shall have to be paid by the beneficiary. ⮚ Admission authority shall invite applications under this category and then make a separate merit list for this category and effect admission on the basis of the merit list so generated. ⮚ In the event of non-availability of students in this category the same shall not be given to any other category of applicants. ⮚ Student admitted under this scheme shall not be allowed to change Institution course under any circumstances. Economically Weaker Section (EWS) ⮚ Candidate's annual family income ⮚ Must be less than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum. ⮚ His family must not own more than 5 acres of agriculture land. ⮚ The residential flat area should be below 1000 sqft.M ⮚ The residential plot's area should be below 100 square yards if in a notified municipality sector. ⮚ The residential plot's area should be below 200 square yards if in a non- notified municipality sector. ⮚ Admission authority shall invite applications under this category and then make a separate merit list for this category and effect admission on the basis of the merit list so generated. ⮚ In the event of non- availability of students in this category the same shall not be given to any other category of applicants.
Eligibility Criteria
CRITERIA 4 YEARS B.Tech Program (1st Year) LATERAL ENTRY TO 2ND YEAR Entry Qualification A candidate for admission to the first semester of the 8-semester B.Tech. degree programme should be required to have passed. The higher Secondary Examination of the (10+2) curriculum (Academic stream) prescribed by the recognized board or any other examination equivalent there to with minimum of 45% marks ( 40% for ST/SC candidates) in aggregate of subjects-Mathematics, Physics, and any one of the following optional subjects: Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology (Botany & Zoology) or an Examination of any University or Authority recognized by the executive Council of the NSCBIHL as equivalent thereto. The minimum qualification for admission is a pass in a three-year diploma or four-year sandwich diploma course in engineering / technology from an AICTE-approved institution with at least 45% marks (40% for OBC and SC/ST candidates) in aggregate in the subjects covered from the 3rd to the final semester, or a pass in a B.Sc. degree from a recognized university as defined by UGC with at least 45% marks (40% for OBC and SC/ST candidates) and passed XII standard with mathematics as a subject, provided further that, the students belonging to the B.Sc. stream shall be considered only after filling the supernumerary seats in this category with students belonging to the diploma stream. The list of approved Diploma programs for admission to B Tech Program through lateral Entry is given in the subsequent table below. (Institute shall conduct entrance examination for admission to lateral entry scheme.). Age The candidate should not have completed 21 years of age as of July 1st of the academic year under consideration. In the case of SC/ST candidates, the age limit is relaxed by 3 years for both the cases. For lateral entry admission to the second year of the degree program, there is no age limit. Duration The Bachelor of Technology Degree Program shall extend over a period of 8 consecutive semesters spread over four academic years, with two semesters constituting one academic year.
