DBRAIT Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great pride and enthusiasm. The celebrations were marked by the unfurling of the National Flag, cultural performances, and an inspiring address by Dr. (Prof.) Sanmukh Kaur.
In her speech, Dr. Kaur reflected on the historical significance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, recalling the Cellular Jail — famously known as Kala Pani — as a symbol of the immense sacrifices made by freedom fighters who dared to challenge British rule. She reminded the gathering that the islands once served as a place of exile and suffering for revolutionaries who gave their all for the country’s freedom.
She called upon citizens to pay homage to the martyrs and to reflect upon the nation’s journey towards the vision of Developed India 2047. While emphasising the importance of agriculture and infrastructure, she underlined the crucial role of MSMEs, start-ups, and entrepreneurship in driving economic growth. She encouraged the youth to move beyond being job seekers and instead strive to become job creators, bringing forth innovative and global ideas to address both local and national challenges.
Dr. Kaur stressed the need to advance through non-violence, harmony, and collective effort, highlighting that students, faculty, and staff together can propel the nation towards progress and prosperity. She congratulated academic achievers and the winners of the patriotic dance competition, commending their dedication, discipline, and spirit.
The address concluded with a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs, quoting the lines:
"ऐ मेरे वतन के लोगों, ज़रा आँख में भर लो पानी,
जो शहीद हुए हैं उनकी, ज़रा याद करो कुर्बानी।"
