AI IMPACT Pre-Summit Held at DBRAIT Ahead of National AI Summit

A State-level AI IMPACT Pre-Summit was successfully conducted at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) on February 9, 2026, serving as a curtain-raiser to the forthcoming AI IMPACT Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, 2026. The programme witnessed the participation of faculty members, students, researchers, and start-up representatives from DBRAIT, TGCE, JNRM, and other emerging start-ups across the islands. The event aimed to create awareness and build momentum around the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence across sectors. Prof.(Dr.) Sanmukh Kaur, Principal, DBRAIT, and Patron of Program, addressed the participants and highlighted the key focus areas of the day, including applications of AI in diverse fields, India–Japan collaboration for Smart Island development, and the growing importance of Large Language Models (LLMs) in AI. Dr. Manu Vashishtha, Sr.Lecturer, DBRAIT, welcomed the gathering and provided an overview of the objectives of the Pre-Summit. The Chief Guest, Dr. Aparup Das, Director & Scientist-G, ICMR, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, delivered an insightful address on intelligence and human evolution, while also emphasizing the ethical dimensions and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence. The first technical session was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Mansaf, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, who stressed the urgent need for AI integration in island education. He elaborated on the concept and evolution of AI, its impact on jobs and industries, and demonstrated the practical use of multiple AI tools in education and research. The second session featured Shri Nitish Singh, Data Manager, BharatGen, IIT Bombay, who joined virtually. He spoke on the role of AI in community media and highlighted the development of various LLM-based speech models under BharatGen, designed to address the linguistic diversity and nuanced dialects of Indian languages. Following the lunch break, the afternoon session was conducted by Shri Kailash S, Scientist-E, CDAC Chennai, who discussed the application of AI in e-governance. He explained how AI can enhance electoral processes and support the generation and management of various identity systems. In the concluding technical session, Prof. (Dr.) M. K. Dutta, Additional Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director, Amity Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Amity University, delivered a presentation on AI in healthcare. He showcased advanced AI-enabled medical equipment currently available in India, including AI-assisted MRI and CT scan systems, automated diagnostic imaging tools, AI-based pathology analyzers, robotic surgical systems, and predictive analytics platforms used in disease detection and patient monitoring. The programme concluded with a valedictory session, during which certificates were distributed to all the participants, marking the impact of the AI IMPACT Pre-Summit at DBRAIT.
