Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, Edition 3- Phase-1 Launch

The IDE Bootcamp 2026 was successfully conducted at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair, from 6th to 9th April 2026. Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell and AICTE, the four-day programme provided intensive exposure to design thinking, startup development, intellectual property, and financial literacy. Shri L. Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Education), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, inaugurated the 3rd Edition of the Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp 2026. In his address, he emphasized the need to nurture curiosity and scientific temper from the school level, highlighting the importance of a supportive ecosystem, strengthened labs, and teacher capacity building. The programme, an initiative of AICTE through its Innovation Cell, aims to promote innovation, design thinking, and entrepreneurship among students. Dr. (Prof.) Sanmukh Kaur, Principal, DBRAIT, highlighted the importance of identifying real-world problems, validating ideas, and understanding market needs, while stressing adaptability in entrepreneurship. The bootcamp featured expert sessions, innovation ecosystem visits, and the pitching of 25 student ideas presented by more than 200 participating students before a jury comprising industry leaders. Eminent speakers from the Department of Industries, MoE Innovation Cell, and Wadhwani Foundation inspired participants to align with national initiatives such as SSIP, YUKTI, and KAPILA, while highlighting opportunities in MSMEs, tourism, fisheries, food processing, and energy. The event reinforced the vision of “Local for Vocal” and self-reliance, marking a significant step in nurturing entrepreneurial spirit among island youth. The event was funded by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell and AICTE.
